How Sprint’s Q4 Wireless Service Revenue Stacks Up with Peers

Sprint’s (S) total net operating revenues increased ~4.4% YoY to reach $8.4 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018. The company’s wireless revenues rose ~5.2% YoY to reach $8.2 billion.

Now let’s look at the two significant segments of Sprint’s wireless revenues. The larger part is the company’s wireless service revenues, and the smaller part is its wireless equipment revenues. Sprint’s wireless service revenues declined ~2.9% YoY to reach $5.4 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018. However, excluding the impact of the new revenue standard, the company’s wireless service revenues rose ~0.9% YoY to reach $5.6 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018. The YoY increase was mainly due to growth in the retail subscriber base.

Performance of other US wireless carriers

In comparison, T-Mobile’s (TMUS) wireless service revenues rose ~6.0% YoY to reach $8.3 billion in the quarter, which ended on March 31. AT&T’s (T) wireless service revenues from its combined domestic operations increased ~2.9% YoY to reach $13.8 billion.
