Sprint’s postpaid phone net additions in fiscal Q3 2018

Sprint (S) is expected to release its third quarter fiscal 2018 earnings results on January 31. The quarter ended in December. Sprint is projected to report adjusted EPS of -$0.02 as compared to $0.03 in the third quarter of fiscal 2017. Meanwhile, Wall Street analysts expect Sprint’s total revenue to rise ~2.2% YoY to reach $8.4 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2018. In addition, the company is expected to report a loss of 65,000 postpaid phone customers in the same period.

In the second quarter of fiscal 2018, Sprint lost 34,000 postpaid phone customers due to the intensified competition in the traditional US wireless market. Meanwhile, the company reported 87,000 postpaid phone net customer additions in the first quarter and 279,000 postpaid phone net customer additions in the second quarter of fiscal 2017.

Peer comparison

In comparison, AT&T (T) is expected to report 200,000 postpaid phone net customer additions in the quarter, which ended on December 31, while Verizon (VZ) is expected to report 650,000 postpaid phone net customer additions. T-Mobile (TMUS) is expected to report 1 million postpaid phone net customer additions in the same quarter.
