How Juniper Networks Plans to Drive Revenues in 2018

Security business segment

Juniper Networks’ (JNPR) Security business segment saw its sales increase 8.0% year-over-year in 4Q17. This growth was driven by momentum in sales for its financial services, government, and telco customers.

As its customers invest in network security for detection and enforcement against cyber threats, it provides an opportunity for security firms such as Juniper Networks, Cisco Systems (CSCO), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), FireEye (FEYE), and Fortinet (FTNT) to enhance their revenue growth. 

Juniper Networks’ software-defined secured network solution is quickly gaining traction, and the firm added several new customers in 4Q17.

During Juniper Networks’ 4Q17 earnings call, its CEO, Rami Rahim, stated, “Our improvements in security was broad-based across products and geographies, and we continue to see an uptick in million-dollar-plus deals, which is providing confidence our Security business is likely to see a return to growth in 2018.”

In 4Q17, Juniper Networks’ Contrail Security had major customer wins including Tier 1 carriers in Europe and Asia. Contrail Security aims to reduce the risk for applications running on multi-cloud environments.

SD-WAN solution

Juniper is also optimistic about its SD-WAN (software-defined wide area network) solution that has secured three Tier 1 service provider wins to date. Juniper Networks’ AppFormix customer base expanded across its SaaS (software-as-a-service), enterprise, and telecom operators.

AppFormix and Contrail Security have been integrated to ensure seamless operations management.
