
What Can Investors Expect from Nokia’s Upcoming 3Q16 Earnings?

Nokia (NOK), a Europe-based (EFA) company, will be announcing its 3Q16 results on October 27, 2016. Analysts estimate that it will post revenues of $6.5 billion for the quarter ended September 2016, with a low estimate of $6.3 billion and a high estimate of $6.7 billion.
EPS (earnings per share) is estimated at $0.05, with a high estimate of $0.06 and a low estimate of $0.03. If Nokia meets analysts’ revenue estimates of $6.5 billion, it will mean a YoY (year-over-year) increase of 92.4% compared to 3Q15, primarily driven by the Alcatel acquisition.
As you can see in the above graph, Nokia beat analysts’ EPS estimates in 3Q15 by 28.6% when it announced EPS of $0.09. Nokia also beat analysts’ EPS estimates in 4Q15 by 33.3%.
However, Nokia posted EPS that was 25.0% below analysts’ estimates in 1Q16 and 2Q16.
How did Nokia perform in fiscal 2Q16?
When Nokia announced its fiscal 2Q16 earnings, it reported revenue of $6.2 billion and EPS of $0.03. Analysts expected the company to post revenues of $6.5 billion, with a low estimate of $6.2 billion and a high estimate of $6.8 billion.
Peer companies such as Ericsson (ERIC), Cisco (CSCO), and Microsoft (MSFT) will be announcing their quarterly results on October 21, November 16, and October 20, 2016, respectively.
