Network performance of wireless players in Los Angeles
In the previous part of this series, we learned about the network performance metrics of the top four US mobile carriers in the Los Angeles market in 2H15. The top four US wireless carriers are Verizon (VZ), AT&T (T), T-Mobile (TMUS), and Sprint (S). Based on RootMetrics’ 2H15 results, these four wireless players retained the same spots in the key overall network performance metric they had 1H15.
Verizon got the top spot in terms of overall network performance in Los Angeles in 2H15. Meanwhile, AT&T and T-Mobile shared the second spot in this metric, and Sprint got the last spot for overall network performance in Los Angeles in 2H15.
Network speed metrics of wireless players in Los Angeles
Based on RootMetrics’ results for Los Angeles, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint held on to their respective 1H15 rankings in the network speed metric for the market in 2H15. Verizon had the top spot, and T-Mobile and AT&T got second and third spots, respectively, in this network speed metric. Sprint placed last among these carriers for the 2H15 metric.
Instead of direct exposure to Sprint’s stock, you may consider diversified exposure to the telecom company by investing in the iShares US Telecommunications ETF (IYZ). The ETF had ~3.9% of its holdings in the US wireless telecom player at the end of October 2015.
