Apple iOS 13 announced
Every year, Apple’s (AAPL) app developers eagerly await the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference. During the event, the company announces the upcoming operating system and software upgrades for its devices. The event attracts consumers’ attention too. This year, the company’s iOS 13 announcement reflected its increased focus on consumers from developing nations. While Apple added some features for its Chinese consumers, it also had something for iPhone users in India.
iOS 13 features for Indian iPhone users
Apple’s upcoming iOS 13 will support a Hindi and English bilingual keyboard for iPhone users in India. The upgrade would add 15 new Indian language keyboards to iPhone apart from the seven Indian languages that it already supports. The iOS 13 adds 30 new document fonts in various Indian languages and brings Hindi language typing prediction feature to iPhones.
Indian English voices for Siri
The Apple iOS 13 upgrade is slated to add more natural Indian English voices to Siri, both male and female. Despite a recent significant increase in mobile phone users in India, poor network connectivity and network congestion remain a problem there. After upgrading to iOS 13, iPhone users in India can avoid network congestion to download videos from streaming apps like Hot Star and Netflix by optimizing the time of day.
Currently, Apple is facing challenges in many developed nations due to consumers’ lengthening iPhone replacement cycle. In such a scenario, the company has high hopes from the Chinese market.
However, the ongoing US-China trade tensions could hurt Apple’s ability to expand its consumer base in China aggressively. While currently, India is not a significant international market for Apple in terms of revenue, the company seeks to improve its market share to benefit from rapidly rising demand there.
