
How Top Institutions’ HFC Holdings Have Changed

Based on recent filings, institutional holdings in HollyFrontier (HFC) are at ~90%. This metric indicates market participants’ confidence in a stock. Everything else being equal, rising institutional holding levels suggest optimism.
Changes in institutional holdings in HollyFrontier
In the first quarter, The Vanguard Group, Turtle Creek Management, and BlackRock Institutional Trust reduced their holdings in HFC, while AQR Capital Management raised its holdings. These are HollyFrontier’s top institutional holders.
Meanwhile, State Street Global Advisors, Dimensional Fund Advisors, APG Asset Management, Geode Capital Management, and Mellon Investments increased their holdings in HFC stock in the first quarter, and Janus Henderson Investors reduced its holdings.
Overall, six of HFC’s top ten holders raised their holdings in the stock in the first quarter. Of the stock’s six buyers, AQR Capital bought the most and has been its top buyer for the last six months.
