Instagram’s Explore will have Shopping and IGTV shortcuts
Facebook’s (FB) Instagram app is revamping its Explore tab. The company is also doubling down on its popular “Stories” app, which it cloned from rival Snapchat. Instagram will now have personalized Stories recommendations on the Explore Tab. The new feature will be available in the coming weeks.
The Explore tab will have a revamped navigation bar. The tab will have shortcuts to Shopping and IGTV. The latter has not picked up the way Instagram would have liked. The move is designed to improve IGTV users. Instagram recently added a feature that will let its users shop products without leaving the app, as it tries to attract more brands.
Instagram is becoming Facebook’s major driver of revenue growth
The Explore app already engages more than half of Instagram users every month. The company wants to attract more users to Explore and wants them to engage them with content they are interested in.
Facebook’s main driver of revenue growth could soon be Instagram if it isn’t already. The social media giant has been trying to eke out more money from Instagram, where there is still scope to monetize. Meanwhile, it is running out of places to monetize its main app.
While Facebook’s revenue growth is slowing down, as the graph above shows, Wall Street has been impressed with its growth and has rewarded the stock, which is up nearly 40% year-to-date.
