Is AT&T or Verizon Expected to Report Faster Revenue Growth?

Verizon’s revenue trend

Verizon’s (VZ) net revenue was $130.9 billion in 2018 compared to $126.0 billion in 2017, a ~3.8% YoY (year-over-year) rise. Verizon’s net revenue in the fourth quarter was $34.3 billion compared to $34.0 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017, a rise of ~1.0% YoY.

Analysts expect Verizon’s revenue to rise 1.6% YoY to $32.3 billion in the first quarter, 1.0% YoY to $132.2 billion in 2019, 1.2% YoY to $133.7 billion in 2020, and 1.2% YoY to $135.4 billion in 2021.

AT&T’s revenue trend

AT&T’s (T) net revenue was $170.8 billion in 2018 compared to $160.5 billion in 2017, a ~6.4% YoY rise. AT&T’s net revenue in the fourth quarter was $48.0 billion compared to $41.7 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017, a ~15.2% YoY rise.

Analysts expect AT&T’s revenue to rise 18.7% YoY to $45.2 billion in the first quarter, 7.8% YoY to $184.0 billion in 2019, 0.5% YoY to $184.9 billion in 2020, and 0.5% YoY to $185.8 billion in 2021.

In comparison, analysts expect T-Mobile’s (TMUS) revenue to rise 5.4% YoY to $11.0 billion in the first quarter, 5.4% YoY to $45.7 billion in 2019, 5.0% YoY to $47.9 billion in 2020, and 6.8% YoY to $51.2 billion in 2021.

Analysts expect Sprint’s (S) revenue to rise 1.0% YoY to $8.2 billion in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2018, which ends on March 31.
