How Sprint’s Earnings and Revenue Have Been Trending

Sprint’s earnings trend

Sprint (S) reported adjusted EPS of $0.09 in the first six months of fiscal 2018 (which ends in March 2019) compared to $0.05 in the same period in fiscal 2017, reflecting an ~80% YoY (year-over-year) rise. 

In the second quarter of fiscal 2018, which ended in September, the company reported adjusted EPS of $0.05 compared to $0.00 in the second quarter of fiscal 2017. Wall Street analysts expect Sprint to report adjusted EPS of -$0.02 in the third quarter of fiscal 2018, which ended in December.

In comparison, T-Mobile’s (TMUS) adjusted EPS are expected to rise ~14.8% YoY to $0.70 in the quarter that ended on December 31, while Verizon’s (VZ) adjusted EPS are expected to rise ~26.7% YoY to $1.09. AT&T’s (T) adjusted EPS are expected to rise ~9% YoY to $0.85 in the same quarter.

Revenue trends

Sprint’s net revenue was $16.6 billion in the first six months of fiscal 2018 compared to $16.1 billion in the same period in fiscal 2017, reflecting a rise of ~2.9% YoY. Its net revenue in the second quarter of fiscal 2018 was $8.4 billion compared to $7.9 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2017, reflecting a rise of ~6.4% YoY. Analysts expect Sprint’s revenue to rise ~2.1% YoY to $8.4 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2018.

In comparison, T-Mobile’s revenue is expected to rise ~5.6% YoY to $11.4 billion in the quarter that ended on December 31, while Verizon’s revenue is expected to rise ~1.2% YoY to $34.4 billion. AT&T’s revenue is expected to rise ~15.9% YoY to $48.5 billion in the same period.
