Apple Stock Is Trading 47% below Analysts’ Average Estimate

Of the 38 analysts tracking Apple (AAPL) stock, 32 recommend “buy,” and six recommend “hold.” Their 12-month average price target for Apple is $221, 47% higher than its current price.

Following the recent tech sell-off and broader market weakness, FAANG[1.an acronym for the market’s top five tech stocks: Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, and Google] stocks are now cheaper. Facebook (FB), Amazon (AMZN), Netflix (NFLX), and Google (GOOGL) are trading 54%, 55%, 58%, and 36% below analysts’ average price targets, respectively.

Apple closed December 24 at $146.83, which was 39% below its 100-day moving average of $205.16, 23% below its 50-day moving average of $191.38, and 13% below its 20-day moving average of $169.20.

Moving average convergence divergence and relative strength index

A stock’s MACD (moving average convergence divergence) is the difference between its short- and long-term moving averages. Apple’s 14-day MACD score is -12.84. The negative score indicates a downward trading trend.

Apple’s 14-day RSI (relative strength index) score of 24 shows the stock is well into oversold territory. An RSI score above 70 indicates a stock has been overbought, while an RSI score below 30 indicates it has been oversold.
