Amazon has launched a slew of Alexa-powered products
Amazon (AMZN) unveiled a number of Alexa-powered hardware products in an event on Thursday, September 20. These products are the retailer’s biggest push into hardware so far. The company’s smart speaker, Echo Dot, is getting an upgrade. The company said that the new Echo Dot will have a much louder speaker. Meanwhile, the Echo Plus is getting a redesign too and can now understand commands while offline.
Amazon wants to get Alexa into consumers’ cars as well. With Amazon’s Echo Auto, you can ask Alexa to play music, make calls, or even switch off an appliance you might have left on at home.
Amazon has come up with some interesting products
Amazon is also launching a microwave that can be controlled using Alexa through an Echo device. Amazon also acquired home security company Ring recently.
Amazon’s Echo Sub is a giant speaker that looks like Apple’s HomePod but will directly compete with Sonos. Among other products, Amazon also unveiled its Fire TV recast, a live TV recorder, an Alexa clock, and an Echo Smart Plug. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has been very bullish on the company’s digital assistant, Alexa, and wants to make it ubiquitous.
