MacBook revenue fell 5% in fiscal Q3 2018
Apple’s (AAPL) MacBook revenue fell 5% YoY (year-over-year) to $5.33 billion in fiscal Q3 2018 compared to $5.6 billion. Unit shipments fell 13% YoY to 3.72 million from 4.29 million. Gartner had estimated a 3% YoY rise in MacBook shipments, while IDC (International Data Corporation) had estimated a marginal rise of 0.1%.
The global PC market has risen 2.7% YoY to 62.3 million units. IDC estimated HP’s (HPQ) shipments to rise 7.6% YoY to 14.86 million units. Lenovo (LNVGY) reportedly managed to increase shipments by 11.3% to 13.7 million units, while Dell’s shipments rose 9% to 11.25 million units. Apple was the only major player to see a shipment decline in the second quarter of 2018.
HP continued to lead the PC market with a share of 23.9%, followed by Lenovo, Dell, Apple, and Acer at 22.1%, 18.1%, 6.9%, and 6.7%, respectively.
iPad revenue fell 5% in fiscal Q3 2018
Apple’s (AAPL) iPad revenue fell 5% YoY to $4.74 billion in fiscal Q3 2018 compared to $4.97 billion. Unit shipments rose 1% YoY to 11.55 million from 11.42 million.
