Previously in this series, we looked at Verizon’s (VZ) network performance in Washington, DC. Now let’s look at the latest network performance ratings in San Francisco, California. According to the first half of 2018 RootScore report for San Francisco, Verizon ranked first in the overall network performance category. AT&T (T), T-Mobile (TMUS), and Sprint (S) ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively, for overall network performance.
Verizon earned a score of 97.9 for overall network performance in San Francisco compared with AT&T’s score of 96.9, T-Mobile’s score of 95.7, and Sprint’s score of 93.3.

According to the first half 2018 RootScore report for San Francisco, Verizon won or shared the top spot in all six network performance categories: data performance, text performance, overall performance, network reliability, network speed, and call performance.
According to the report, Verizon registered the fastest median download speed of 39.4 Mbps (megabits per second). In addition, Sprint’s median download speed increased from 9.2 Mbps in the second half of 2017 to 16.6 Mbps in the first half of 2018. AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon registered the fastest median upload speeds with speeds ranging from 14.5 Mbps to 15.8 Mbps.
