Netflix has inked a new deal with Dish’s hospitality offering
Netflix will be accessible in more hotel rooms soon due to a new partnership with Dish’s (DISH) Evolve Hospitality offering. Dish launched the service last year. It combines its live TV offerings with streaming apps through Google (GOOG) Play and is 4K-capable.
Evolve Hospitality uses Android TV hardware, which gives access to local streaming apps and phone-based apps through Google’s Chromecast. After Evolve gets access to Netflix, customers will be able to access Netflix’s library through their accounts.
Netflix wants to increase its presence through other means
Both Amazon and Netflix want to make their services more ubiquitous and build on the lead they already have in their respective fields.
Netflix has seen a tremendous surge in its international subscribers, which has caused its stock to surge by a jaw-dropping 106% YTD (year-to-date). Dish stock, however, has fallen 28% YTD as customers continue to cut the cord in favor of OTT (over-the-top) streaming services such as Netflix.
The streaming giant has been striking deals with traditional media companies. Comcast (CMCSA) announced earlier this year that it will be bundling Netflix’s streaming services with its Xfinity platform.
