Currently, PPL Corporation (PPL) is trading at a PE (price-to-earnings) multiple of 13.5x compared to its five-year historical average PE of near 14x. Based on its PE, PPL appears to be trading at a discount compared to its historical valuation.

PPL has been one of the top underperformers in the S&P 500 Utilities Index (XLU) in the last year. It has fallen more than 25%, while utilities at large are trading close to their previous years’ levels.

Duke Energy (DUK) stock is currently trading at a PE of 22.0x, while its five-year historical average valuation is ~21x. Thus, Duke Energy stock looks to be trading at a premium compared to its historical valuation.

Xcel Energy (XEL) is trading at a PE of 20x. In comparison, Dominion Energy (D) is trading at a PE of 20x, and its five-year average PE is close to 24x.
