Snapchat’s upgrade has not been popular among users
Snap’s (SNAP) Snapchat has seen a massive user revolt after the company made major changes to the app (application) earlier this year. More than a million users signed a petition that asked the company to bring back the previous version.
The company replied to the petition signers and said that users will actually like the upgrade after they get used to it.
According to a report by SensorTower, the social media app has had a history of increasing first-time downloads in the United States after updates that some users haven’t liked.
Installs have risen despite users disliking the redesign
According to the report, the latest update has been the least liked by Snapchat users. Nevertheless, the app saw the biggest week-over-week percentage increase in installs after its redesign.
The report suggests that Snapchat users may not see a material decline quarter-over-quarter after seeing robust growth in 4Q17. However, the real impact will only be known when Snap announces its earnings in May 2018.
Snap stock is trading flat for the year. However, it has fallen 30% since the redesign due to concerns over the redesign and, more recently, as part of a broader market decline.
