For 4Q17, Encana (ECA) reported total production of 335 Mboepd (thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day). In 4Q17, Encana’s Canadian operations contributed 197.7 Mboepd (or ~59%), and US operations contributed 137.5 Mboepd (or ~41%) to Encana’s total production.

Sequentially, Encana’s 4Q17 production is ~18% higher when compared with 3Q17 production of 335.2 Mboepd. Encana’s 4Q17 production is ~4% higher than its 4Q16 production of 321.5 Mboepd.

Encana’s core assets

In 4Q17, Encana’s four core assets produced 310.3 Mboepd, or ~93%, of its total production, in the same quarter. In 4Q16, Encana’s core four assets produced 237.1 Mboepd, or ~74% of its total production. Encana’s core assets include the Eagle Ford Shale and the Permian Basin in the US, and Montney and Duvernay in Canada.

Production mix

In 4Q17, Encana reported total liquids production of 152.6 MBbls per day (thousand barrels), which was ~46% of the total production in the same quarter. In 4Q17, Encana reported natural gas production of 1,096 MMcf per day (million cubic feet), which is ~54% of the total production in the same quarter. Encana’s core four assets contributed 147.9 MBbls per day, or ~97% of 4Q17 liquids production, and 976 MMcf per day, or ~89% of 4Q17 natural gas production.

Encana’s production guidance

ECA guided full-year 2018 production in the range of 360–380 Mboepd. Encana’s peer Occidental Petroleum (OXY) expects 2018 total production in the range of 640–665 Mboepd.
