
What Analysts Expect from Ericsson in 4Q17

Revenue estimates
Ericsson (ERIC) plans to announce its 4Q17 results on January 30, 2018. Analysts expect Ericsson to post revenues of ~$7.1 billion. Wall Street analysts have a low revenue estimate of $7.0 billion and a high estimate of ~$7.2 billion for Ericsson for 4Q17.
If Ericsson meets the average revenue estimate of ~$7.1 billion, it would mean a YoY (year-over-year) fall of 7.1% compared to revenues of ~$7.6 billion in 4Q16.
Analysts expect the company to post non-GAAP[1. generally accepted accounting principles] EPS (earnings per share) of $0.03 with a low estimate of -$0.01 and a high estimate of $0.06. In 4Q16, Ericsson reported EPS of $0.07.
Ericsson’s earnings estimates
As seen in the chart above, Ericsson has not beaten analysts’ average EPS estimates in any of the last four quarters. Ericsson posted EPS of -$0.07 in 3Q17, 250.0% below estimates of -$0.02.
Ericsson also posted EPS of $0.02 in 2Q17, which was 60.0% below the analyst estimate of $0.05. It posted EPS of $0.02 in 1Q17 and $0.07 in 4Q16, which were in line with analyst projections.
Ericsson has a market cap of $23.0 billion. Among its peer technology equipment companies, Cisco Systems (CSCO) and Nokia (NOK) have market caps of $29.0 billion and $200.0 billion, respectively.
