SRC Energy’s stock performance
We’ll now look at SRC Energy’s (SRCI) stock performance in 2017 and compare it to the performance of the energy sector, the broader market, and crude and natural gas prices.
SRCI’s was mostly on a downtrend in 1H 2017. However, since late September, crude oil prices started rising, as did SRCI’s stock. By the end of December 2017, SRCI stock gave a return of 1% compared to the beginning of the year, the same as the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE), which gave similar returns in the period.
SRCI stock underperformed crude oil prices (USO)(UCO), which increased 25% between January 2017 and December 2017 as well as the S&P 500 SPDR ETF (SPY)(SPX-INDEX), which increased 21% in the same period.
The underperformer in this period was natural gas prices (UNG), which gave negative returns of 10% in the same period.
