What Analysts Expect from Activision Blizzard in 3Q17

Analysts expect Activision Blizzard (ATVI) to post revenue of $1.74 billion in 3Q17. Wall Street has a high revenue estimate of $1.86 billion and a low estimate of $1.65 billion for 3Q17. If Activision meets the analyst average revenue estimate of $1.74 billion, it would mean a YoY (year-over-year) rise of 6.8% compared to revenue of approximately $1.63 billion in 3Q16.

Analysts expect non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) EPS (earnings per share) of $0.49 with a high EPS estimate of $0.58 and a low estimate of $0.45 in 3Q17. In 3Q16, Activision posted EPS of $0.52.

ATVI has beaten analyst EPS estimates in each of the last four quarters. It reported EPS of $0.43 in 2Q17, which was 43% above the analyst estimate of $0.30. The firm also announced EPS of $0.31 in 1Q17, which was 47% above the analyst estimate of $0.21. Its EPS of $0.92 in 4Q16 and $0.52 in 3Q16 were 26% and 24% above the average analyst estimate, respectively.

Activision expects revenue of $1.4 billion in 3Q17 with a gross margin of 77% and an operating margin of 28%. EPS are expected to be $0.34 in 3Q17. In the first six months of 2017, Activision’s revenue rose 11% YoY to $3.4 billion, up from $3 billion in the first six months of 2017.
