Cerec Zirconia Meso Block
In August 2017, Dentsply Sirona (XRAY) launched its Cerec Zirconia Meso Block for creating customized screw-retained crowns. Zirconia, which is biocompatible and strong, has been used widely for prosthetic implants. The Cerec Zirconia workflow system easily integrates the new Cerec Zirconia Meso Block.
Dentsply Sirona has a leading portfolio of dental technologies and consumables. Other leading players in the global implant market include Danaher (DHR) and Zimmer Biomet Holdings (ZBH). Integra LifeSciences (IART) is another player in the dental technologies space in the United States. The Cerec Zirconia Meso Block is made of translucent, pre-shaded zirconia. The dry milling of the crown and then sintering in the Cerec SpeedFire takes about 24 minutes.
The customized screw-retained crowns with the Tibases produced using the Cerec Zirconia Meso Block have a number of advantages. The micro-movements that cause abrasion on the inner geometry are prevented by the meal abutment base. The risks that arise due to unclean adhesive surfaces are eliminated as the TiBase and crown can be joined together extra-orally. The ease of screwing the abutment crown onto the implant is another advantage of the Cerec Zirconia Meso Block.
