What GoPro Expects for 2Q17 and Fiscal 2017

Revenue of $270 million expected in 2Q17

In 2Q17, GoPro (GPRO) expects revenue between $260 million and $280 million. The company expects the HERO5 Black camera to be its top-selling product. The Karma drone is also expected to account for a large percentage of GoPro’s 2Q17 revenue.

GoPro expects a gross margin of approximately 33.5%, with operating expenses between $122 million and $126 million in 2Q17. Its adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization) in 2Q17 are estimated to be between -$15 million and 5 million. In fiscal 2017, GoPro expects double-digit revenue growth, with operating expenses below $495 million and non-GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) profitability.

GoPro needs to execute its key priorities and expand profit margins to achieve non-GAAP profitability in 2017. CEO Nicholas Woodman stated that “GoPro is executing a turnaround. We are a considerably more efficient and effective company than we were just 6 months ago, and you’re seeing it in our first quarter results. We have improved communication, collaboration and decision-making with a sharply focused set of priorities.”

What do analysts expect from GoPro in 2Q17?

Analysts expect GoPro to post revenue of $269.7 million in 1Q17, a rise of 22.2% YoY (year-over-year). Analysts also expect GoPro’s revenue to rise 12% YoY in fiscal 2017 to $1.3 billion. EPS are expected to be -$0.25 and -$0.15 in 2Q17 and fiscal 2017, respectively.
