Oasis’s Implied Volatility and How it has Changed in the Last Year

Oasis Petroleum’s implied volatility

Oasis Petroleum’s (OAS) current implied volatility is ~60%, which is ~4.2% higher than its 15-day average of ~58%. Oasis’s implied volatility has fallen significantly since last year.

In comparison, peers Apache (APA), Concho Resources (CXO), and Newfield Exploration (NFX) have implied volatility of ~27%, 28%, and ~34%, respectively. Together, these companies make up ~4% of the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE).

XLE has implied volatility of 16.2%. As shown in the graph above, Oasis’s implied volatility is significantly higher than XLE’s.
