Moving average convergence divergence

Alibaba Group Holding’s (BABA) MACD (moving average convergence divergence) for the last seven days was 2.1. Peer companies Twitter (TWTR), Amazon (AMZN), Facebook (FB), and Alphabet (GOOGL) had MACDs of -0.08, 12.7, 1.6, and 6.7, respectively. MACD is the difference between the short-term and long-term moving averages of a company.

Alibaba’s 14-day RSI (relative strength index) was 75 compared to 87, 67, 84, and 96 for peers Twitter, Amazon, Facebook, and Alphabet, respectively. As a general rule, an RSI above 70 indicates an overbought stock, while an RSI below 30 indicates an oversold stock.

Median target estimate

A price target refers to a projected level of price for a stock set by an advisor or investment analyst. If that price is achieved, it represents the highest level of returns from investment. Alibaba’s price target for the upcoming quarter is $128.67.

Of the 42 analysts following BABA stock, 39 have recommended a “buy,” three have recommended a “hold,” and none have recommended a “sell.”

Bolinger Band

In the previous trading session, Alibaba stock closed at $115.50, which is close to its upper Bolinger Band of $117. That implies that the stock is overbought.

Market capitalization

The market capitalization for Alibaba is $285.9 billion at the close of its last trading session. Market capitalization is the market value of a company’s outstanding shares.
