American Tower (AMT) will report its 4Q16 results on February 24, 2017. In this series, we’ll take a look at the expectations for the company’s performance during the quarter. Wall Street expects the company’s earnings to rise in 4Q16. Analysts expect American Tower’s adjusted EPS (earnings per share) to reach $0.58 in 4Q16, compared to its EPS of $0.48 in 4Q15.

American Tower remains well positioned to produce higher levels of growth over a longer period of time than its peers Crown Castle (CCI) and SBA Communications (SBAC) given its global scale.

American Tower’s 3Q16 earnings

Earlier in 3Q16, American Tower reported adjusted EPS of $0.55, compared to its adjusted EPS of $0.18 in 3Q15, driven by strength in its International Property segment. American Tower operates in three international regions: Asia, EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa), and Latin America.

During 3Q16, the company acquired 351 communications sites, mostly in international markets, for $93.4 million. Following the end of 3Q16, American Tower announced that it had formed a strategic joint venture with Dutch pension fund manager PGGM in an effort to boost its growth in Europe.
