Are Institutional Investors Selling KMI Holdings?

Recently, the Vanguard Group, State Street Global Advisors, and BlackRock Institutional Trust Company bought Kinder Morgan (KMI) shares totaling 14.8 million. These are the three biggest institutional owners of KMI after Richard Kinder. At the same time, Capital Research Global Investors sold 32.3 million KMI shares.

As the above table shows, the total number of KMI shares sold by the top ten holders exceeded the shares bought—despite the fact that the number of buyers exceeded the number of sellers.

Notably, the net sale of nearly 32 million shares by Capital Research Global Investors was the largest position change.
