Anadarko Petroleum’s 2016 production guidance

Anadarko Petroleum (APC) provided a divestiture-adjusted 4Q16 production guidance range of 696 Mboepd–717 Mboepd (million barrels of oil equivalent per day). This figure represents a 10% fall at the midpoint as compared to 4Q15 levels.

APC’s production guidance range provided for fiscal 2016 is 716–721 Mboepd. This represents a decline of 14% at the midpoint as compared to 2015 production levels.

Key operational highlights in 3Q16

Anadarko Petroleum’s (APC) 3Q16 total production volumes reached 780 Mboepd. By comparison, its 3Q15 production volumes came in at 787 Mboepd.

Notably, the Delaware and DJ basins, APC’s key focus areas, contributed a combined production of 38% to Anadarko Petroleum’s total 3Q16 production. The company noted in its 3Q16 earnings conference that it will “continue accelerating our activities in the Delaware, the DJ as well as growing the Gulf of Mexico in an effort to improve the production and the investment of our company.”

GOM acquisition

On September 12, 2016, Anadarko Petroleum (APC) announced that it had agreed to acquire Freeport-McMoRan’s (FCX) Gulf of Mexico assets for $2 billion.

The acquisition adds ~80,000 net Boepd (barrels of oil equivalent per day) to its production volumes—more than 80% of which consists of oil (USO).

Other companies operating in the Gulf of Mexico include Noble Energy (NBL) and Hess (HES).
