Consol Energy’s 3Q16 cash flow estimates
For 3Q16, Wall Street analysts expect Consol Energy (CNX) to report cash flow of $0.41 per share, which is ~17% lower than its 3Q15 cash flow.
As shown in the above chart, Consol Energy has reported much lower cash flows since 2Q15, mainly due to lower realized natural gas (UNG) prices. In 2Q15, Consol Energy reported its lowest cash flow since 2012, $0.29 per share. For 3Q16, Wall Street analysts expect Consol Energy to report positive free cash flow of ~$0.05 per share.
Other upstream players
Due to the steep downward trend in energy prices, most S&P 500 (SPY) energy companies have reported lower cash flow year-over-year. Marathon Oil (MRO), EOG Resources (EOG), and Southwestern Energy (SWN) reported cash flow of $0.21 per share, $0.92 per share, and $0.19 per share, respectively, in 2Q16.
