Whiting Petroleum: An Oil-Heavy Upstream Company

Whiting’s crude oil production

Crude Oil (USO) represented ~71% of Whiting Petroleum’s (WLL) total production in 2Q16. Its share as a percentage of Whiting’s total production has declined since 3Q15, and before that it was hovering around 80% on average.

Oasis Petroleum’s (OAS) and PDC Energy (PDCE) 2Q16 crude oil production mixes were 83% and 38%, respectively. Notably, these companies make up ~1% of the iShares US Oil & Gas Exploration & Production ETF (IEO).

As you can see in the above graph, along with Whiting’s oil production percentage, its total production has also shown a steady decline since 3Q15.
