How GoPro Is Eyeing Growth in Its Product Segment

HERO5 and Karma on track to launch in 2016

During its 2Q16 earnings call, GoPro (GPRO) stated that its HERO5 product line is expected to launch in the second half of 2016. According to GoPro, the HERO5 is the “most convenient and connected user experience” created by the tech company.

The founder and CEO of GoPro, Nicholas Woodman, stated, “HERO5 includes several innovative and enabling features that dramatically simplify the experience contributing to what we believe will be the most successful new camera launch in GoPro’s history.”

GoPro’s Karma expected to drive revenues fiscal 2016

Karma, GoPro’s new drone, was initially expected to be launched in June 2016. However, the launch was delayed and Karma is now expected to enter the market ahead of the 2016 holiday season. Woodman added that the company needs to fine-tune Karma’s features and is working to include all of its “revolutionary features” prior to its launch.

GoPro’s stock rose more than 9.0% on August 15, 2016, after the announcement of its new products, HERO5 and Karma, in 2Q16. These products will be also be launched before the 2016 holiday season. HERO4 Silver and Session have already been performing well in recent quarters.

Woodman noted, “HERO5 and Karma will contribute to the largest introduction of products in our history, all in time for what we believe will be GoPro’s most exciting fourth quarter ever—a quarter where we expect to return to profitability.”

Investors also expect these products to perform well in the second half of 2016.
