Pioneer Natural Resources’ 2Q16 cash flow

For 2Q16, Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) reported cash flow of $2.50 per share, which is higher by ~14% when compared with 2Q15.

As seen in the above chart, Pioneer Natural Resources has reported declining cash flows from 3Q14 to 1Q15, mainly due to the lower crude oil (USO) and natural gas (UNG) prices. From 2Q15 to 4Q15, PXD reported improved cash flows, mainly due to the favorable hedges. In 1Q16, Pioneer Natural Resources reported $0.69 per share, its lowest cash flow level since 2009.

For 2Q16, Pioneer Natural Resources reported negative free cash flows of ~-$0.84 per share.

Other upstream players

Due to the steep downward trend in energy prices, many energy companies have reported lower year-over-year cash flows. Southwestern Energy (SWN), Encana (ECA), and CONSOL Energy (CNX) reported $0.19 per share, $0.10 per share, and $0.42 per share, respectively, in cash flows in 2Q16.
