How Much Cash Did ConocoPhillips Generate in 2Q16?

For 2Q16, ConocoPhillips (COP) reported cash flow of $1.01 per share, which is ~42% lower than its cash flow in 2Q15.

As shown in the above chart, ConocoPhillips has reported declining cash flows since 4Q14, mainly due to lower realized crude oil (USO) and natural gas (UNG) prices. In 1Q16, ConocoPhillips reported its lowest ever cash flow, $0.34 per share. For 2Q16, ConocoPhillips reported positive free cash flow of ~$0.10 per share.

Other upstream players

Due to the steep downward trend in energy prices, most S&P 500 (SPY) energy companies have reported lower year-over-year cash flow. Southwestern Energy (SWN), Encana (ECA), and Range Resources (RRC) reported $0.19 per share, $0.10 per share and $0.49 per share, respectively, in cash flow in 2Q16.
