Analyzing Chesapeake Energy’s Profit Margin and Revenue Trends

Chesapeake Energy’s revenue and net profit margin in focus

Chesapeake Energy’s (CHK) 2Q16 revenue decreased by ~43% YoY (year-over-year). Its YoY revenue growth was -26% in 2Q15 and -42.8% in 1Q16.

In comparison, Chesapeake Energy’s upstream peers Cabot Oil and Gas (COG) and Rice Energy (RICE) saw YoY revenue growths of -7% and -22%, respectively, in 2Q16. Meanwhile, EQT (EQT) saw YoY revenue growth of -71% in 2Q16.

Chesapeake Energy also saw a fall in its net profit margin. In 2Q16, it was about -81%. It had been -107% in 2Q15 and -46% in 1Q16.
