Analyzing Cimarex Energy’s Revenue Growth Trends

Cimarex Energy’s revenue and EPS trends

Cimarex Energy’s (XEC) 1Q16 revenue fell by ~33% YoY (year-over-year). In comparison, its YoY revenue growth was -39% in 1Q15 and -43% in 4Q15.

The above graph shows that XEC’s revenue growth has been negative since 1Q15. Concurrently, its earnings have also been negative in this period.

Lower realized energy prices (USO) (UNG) have pulled down the revenues of several upstream companies, which in turn have affected their earnings. XEC’s peers Hess (HES) and Apache (APA) reported revenue growths of -37% and -35% year-over-year, respectively, in 1Q16.
