T-Mobile and Verizon Improved Network Reliability in San Diego

Network reliability of wireless players in San Diego

In the previous part of the series, we learned about the improvement in T-Mobile’s (TMUS) position among the top four US mobile players in overall network performance in San Diego. Now we’ll look at network reliability for the top four US wireless carriers in San Diego in 1H16.

Based on RootMetrics’ results for San Diego, AT&T (T) retained its top spot in network reliability in 1H16. However, unlike 2H15, it had to share this position with Verizon (VZ) and T-Mobile. The rankings for Verizon and T-Mobile in this metric improved a notch in 1H16 from 2H15. Sprint (S) held on to fourth place in 1H16.

Call performance metrics of wireless players in San Diego

Now let’s look at call performance for the top four US wireless carriers in San Diego in 1H16. According to RootMetrics’ 1H16 results for San Diego, the top four wireless carriers shared the top spot in call performance for this metro market. In 2H15, AT&T had the top spot, and Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint shared second place in call performance metric in San Diego.

Instead of taking a direct exposure to Verizon stock, you can take a diversified exposure to the telecom company by investing in the SPDR Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA). The ETF held ~1.8% in Verizon at the end of December 2015.

Next, let’s look at Pittsburgh and how T-Mobile’s and Sprint’s network reliability improved in 1H16.
