DRAM 2GB spot price fell
In this series, we’ll explore the price trends for DRAM (dynamic random-access memory) and NAND (negative-AND). We’ll also analyze the expected performance of these products and related companies in 2016. In the table below, we can see that the spot price of 2GB (gigabyte) DDR3 (double data rate 3) DRAM fell 1.7% from $1.05 on February 19, 2016, to $1.03 on February 26, 2016. The spot price of 4GB DDR3 DRAM fell 0.6% from $1.81 to $1.80 in the same period.
64GB NAND spot price rose
The spot price of 32GB NAND fell 1.4% from $2.10 on February 19, 2016, to $2.07 on February 26, 2016, whereas the spot price of 64GB NAND rose 0.4% from $2.69 to $2.70 in the same period. Major companies in the DRAM space include Korea’s (EWY) Samsung (SSNLF), Micron Technology (MU), SK Hynix (HXSCF), Nanya Technology, and China’s (FXI) Winbond Electronics.
To get exposure to Micron Technology, you can invest in the iShares PHLX Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) and the VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF (SMH). Micron Technology constitutes 3.7% of SOXX and 3.2% of SMH.
