Polycom’s UC Platform Segment Revenues Rise 5% Year-over-Year

In 3Q15, product revenues for Polycom (PLCM) fell 12.0% YoY (year-over-year) to $211.3 million from $240 million in 3Q14. Service revenues fell 4% YoY from $95.6 million in 3Q14 to $91.8 million in 3Q15.

Revenues by product category

  • UC Group Systems: This segment made up 61% of Polycom’s total revenues in 3Q15. Revenues in the UC Group System category fell 15% YoY from $217 million in 3Q14 and 5% quarter-over-quarter from $195 million in 2Q15 to $185 million in 3Q15.
  • UC Personal Devices: This segment made up 21% of Polycom’s total revenues in 3Q15. Revenues in the UC Personal Devices category rose 5% YoY from $60 million in 3Q14 and fell 5% quarter-over-quarter from $67 million in 2Q15 to $63 million in 3Q15.
  • UC Platform: This segment made up 18% of Polycom’s total revenues in 3Q15. Revenues in the UC Platform category fell 6% YoY from $58 million in 3Q14 and rose 1% quarter-over-quarter from $55 million in 2Q15 to $55.5 million in 3Q15.

Revenues by geography

  • Americas: This region contributed 49% of Polycom’s total revenues in 3Q15. Revenues in the Americas region fell 11% YoY from $166 million in 3Q14 and 6% quarter-over-quarter from $158 million in 2Q15 to $148 million in 3Q15.
  • EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa): This region contributed 25% of Polycom’s total revenues in 3Q15. Revenues in the EMEA region fell 8% YoY from $84 million in 3Q14 and 4% quarter-over-quarter from $81 million in 2Q15 to $77 million in 3Q15.
  • Asia: This region contributed 26% of Polycom’s total revenues in 3Q15. Revenues in the Asia region fell 9% YoY from $78 million in 3Q14 and rose 0.5% quarter-over-quarter from $77 million in 2Q15 to $78 million in 3Q15.

“Improving operational performance and making sound strategic investments remain top priorities for Polycom,” stated Polycom’s chief executive officer Peter Leav. “Additionally, we are very excited about the game-changing products that we recently announced.”

Polycom constitutes 2.8% of the iShares North American Tech-Multimedia Networking ETF (IGN) and 0.10% of the iShares Russell 2000 ETF (IWM). Peer companies such as Cisco (CSCO) and F5 Networks (FFIV) make up 9.0% and 4.3% of IGN.
