Frontier Communications: Revenue Trends in 2019

Frontier Communications’ (FTR) top line has been declining in the last few quarters. In the first quarter, the company reported net revenues of $2.10 billion—a fall of 4.5% on a YoY (year-over-year) basis. Frontier Communications missed analysts’ consensus revenue expectation by $1 million in the first quarter.

In the first quarter, Frontier Communications’ voice services revenues fell 7.4% YoY to $650 million, while data and Internet services revenues fell 1.8% YoY to $967 million. The video services revenues fell 4.3% YoY to $268 million.

Analysts expect Frontier Communications’ total revenues to change YoY by -4.2% to $2.07 billion in the second quarter, -3.9% to $2.04 billion in the third quarter, and -4.7% to $2.03 billion in the fourth quarter. Analysts also expect the company’s total revenues to change YoY by -4.6% to $8.22 billion in 2019, -4.8% to $7.82 billion in 2020, and -3.5% to $7.55 billion in 2021.

Peers’ performance

Charter Communications’ (CHTR) revenues are expected to rise 5.0% YoY to $11.4 billion in the second quarter, while Comcast’s (CMCSA) revenues are expected to rise 26.2% YoY to $27.4 billion. CenturyLink’s (CTL) revenues are expected to fall 5.0% YoY to $5.6 billion in the second quarter.
