Aurora Cannabis to report losses
Aurora Cannabis (ACB) is set to report its earnings after the market closes today. The company is expected to report a net loss of 50.6 million Canadian dollars, down 237.8 million Canadian dollars sequentially. In the corresponding quarter a year ago, the company reported a net loss of about 12.7 million Canadian dollars.

In the above chart, you can see that on a per-share basis, the company is expected to report a loss per share of 0.06 Canadian dollars, compared to a loss of 0.25 Canadian dollars per share in the previous quarter. Note that we’ve used sequential figures as opposed to the corresponding quarter a year ago because the previous quarter is more comparable since recreational cannabis went on sale in October last year.
Let’s compare with peer Cronos Group (CRON), which reported a loss per share of 0.32 Canadian dollars compared to a loss per share of 0.38 Canadian dollars sequentially. Aphria (APHA), on the other hand, reported a loss per share of 0.20 Canadian dollars, compared to earnings per share of 0.22 Canadian dollars in the previous quarter.
Canopy Growth (WEED) is expected to report a loss per share of 0.32 Canadian dollars compared to a loss per share of 0.38 Canadian dollars. Canopy Growth lost nearly 8% yesterday while the ETFMG Alternative Harvest ETF (MJ) fell 5.1% yesterday.
