TikTok has given rise to countless viral trends and internet sensations. From dance challenges and DIYs to travel guides and comedic skits, it has become a multi-faceted communication platform. Several creators who went viral with their videos like Khaby Lame, Addison Rae, and Bella Poarch, have gone on to become internet celebrities. Here is a look at the top 10 most-liked videos on TikTok.

1. Bella Poarch’s M to the B’ lip sync: 63.5 million likes

Posted in mid-2020, the most liked TikTok video of all time is of Bella Poarch. The creator lip-syncs to British rapper Millie B’s ‘M to the B’ while making cute expressions. As the video blew up, it established the creator as a TikTok phenomenon and an internet celebrity. Poarch catapulted the trend of the song to the top of TikTok's popularity with several other creators joining the suit. Poarch went on to become one of the most popular creators on the platform making her original content.

2. Jamie Big Sorrel Horse’s ‘Say It Right’ Dance: 52.4 million likes

Native American creator Jamie Big Sorrel Horse became a TikTok sensation with his casual video of having fun. Jamie filmed himself dancing to a remix of Nelly Furtado’s ‘Say It Right’ in front of his bathroom mirror which went viral in 2022. Support poured in from rival platform Instagram as well and his video set off a trend that was used by several other creators as well. This is one of the rare instances where a non-creator created a trend.

Polish visual artist Franek Bielak documented the process of creating an artwork inspired from a TikTok of a live human lip. The clip he shared showed the meticulous work he put in and the amazing, realistic end result.  The painting of different fruits in between human lips earned him over millions of views and likes on the platform, catapulting him to fame. 

4. Nick Luciano’s Lip-sync to ‘SugarCrash!’: 51.1 million likes

Sometimes a creative or funny lip sync is all you need to go viral. Nick Luciano proved that by posting his take on the trendy lip sync to ‘SugarCrash!’ by ElyOtto. The trend at the time was raging on social media platforms and was particularly popular among female creators. However, Luciano wasn’t fazed by the girly tune and filmed a version of him lip-syncing with a gorgeous mountain backdrop which was ‘Not A Green Screen’.

5. David Allen’s ‘Stay’ dance video: 45.2 million likes

This video is another example of a creative take on a trend that popped off across social media. This time, TikTok helped discover a hidden talent, drone photographer David Allen who created an ultra-creative version of the ‘Stay’ dance trend. Allen used his drone operating skills to create a fantastic 360 video of him dancing to the tunes. The video got so popular that Allen got a chance to recreate it with several celebrities and creators on the platform.

6. Mona Gonzales’ ‘Suave’ : 42.7 million likes

Philippines-based singer Mona Gonzales’ exaggeration of El Alfa el Jefe’s ‘Suave’ left people laughing out loud. What started as a joke on TikTok to sing “Wake up the neighbors” went on to become a content phenomenon across social media. The cover got so popular that producers rushed to use her vocals in their remixes to create more popular video formats and trends that made their way to other platforms and creators as well.

7. Billie Eilish’s #TimeWarpScan filter: 40.9 million likes

While people don’t necessarily need to be a celebrity or one of the most popular pop stars in the world to go viral, it surely doesn’t hurt to be one. Superstar Billie Eilish went viral in 2020 for trying out the trending Time Warp Scan. Her candid reaction to the funny result was cheered by her fans and the TikTok audience who shared the video across social media allowing it to gain over 40 million likes on the original post.

Pet videos are generally very popular on social media. However, videos showing the unique or funny relationship between a pet and the owner are always precious. In Adrian Chateu Wiles’ video, the creator barks at her dog trying to communicate. However, the dog’s puzzled, and seemingly shocked expression is what made the video go viral. The video led to many other pet owners trying the same and filming their dog’s reactions as well.

9. Khabane Lame’s Banana peeling video: 37.9 million likes

Khabane Lame, better known as Khaby Lame, became an internet sensation for his mock videos of exaggerated tutorials. Khaby became famous for simplifying tasks that were made complicated by fellow creators. In this viral video, Khaby did a duet with a creator who sliced off a banana’s skin using a fancy knife. In his signature fashion, Khaby then proceeds to peel the banana’s skin off using his hands adding to his mock series of his ‘life hack’ videos.

Cat videos are so popular on the internet that even NASA is a fan. Funny quirks and actions of cats are loved by many and these videos often go viral. In this video, a curious ginger cat is seen failing to enter a cylindrical cardboard tube with its head. The frustrated cat then tried to extend its paw to the tube’s bottom instead, attempting to reach the camera that was filming it.
