Fox sent a cease and desist letter Friday to Media Matters, the watchdog group and its president demanding that it take down the behind-the-scenes videos of Tucker Carlson attacking Fox News' streaming service and making offensive remarks.

The footage, which comprises a series of clips, comes in the wake of Carlson's abrupt firing at the right-wing network and a series of leaked text messages revealing the former primetime star's derogatory and racist comments.

In the letter by the Fox corporation, the "unaired footage" is stated as "confidential intellectual property and the publication demanded that the footage be taken down immediately as it's a misuse of Fox's misappropriated proprietary footage, which was also unlawfully obtained".

Carlson is yet to respond to requests for comment as reported by CNN Business, However, Media Matters President Angelo Carusone said Fox's argument was "absurd" as reporting on leaked anecdotes is a cornerstone of journalism.
