American investor and hedge fund manager Michael Burry is best known for predicting the subprime mortgage crisis that occurred between 2007 and 2010 in the United States, making $100 million in personal profit.
Burry also founded the hedge fund Scion Capital, which he closed in 2008, and is a licensed physician. In 2013, he reopened his hedge fund as Scion Asset Management and is known to invest primarily in water, gold, and farmland. He has also been extremely critical of Elon Musk and Tesla.
Burry is portrayed by Christian Bale in the Oscar-nominated movie The Big Short.
