What classic items is Taco Bell bringing back?

Taco Bell restaurants are actually bringing back a few menu items that originally graced the chain beginning in 1995. There are two main Volcano Menu Items to return, plus a popular and fiery condiment:

  • Volcano Burrito
  • Volcano Taco
  • add Lava Sauce to any menu item

On March 16, 2023, Taco Bell released a press announcement and said, "The rumblings were true." The company confirmed that the Volcano Menu is indeed coming back. The menu items must have quite a bit of a spicy kick, given the "fiery" language the company used, saying it's a "menu so hot we can't keep our cool."

Why did they change the Taco Bell menu?

While there hasn't been a clear answer to why Taco Bell discontinued its Volcano Menu items, fans have a few theories. It seemed that the Volcano Taco and Volcano Burrito were fairly popular among customers, especially given the fervent support of bringing them back. One can assume the company decided to discontinue them in order to have the leverage of bringing them back for a limited time.

According to Taco Bell, fans have been pleading for a return to the '90s menu items and even making their own versions. "From petitions, to recreating their own DIY alternatives from home, Taco Bell fans took to social advocating for the return," said the press release. "Taco Bell heard and is making this summer hotter than ever."
