Verizon’s Q1 Earnings: Analysts’ Expectations



Verizon’s first-quarter earnings

Verizon (VZ) is scheduled to report its first-quarter results on April 23. Analysts expect Verizon’s adjusted EPS to reach $1.17 or remain unchanged on a YoY (year-over-year) basis.

In the fourth quarter of 2018, Verizon’s adjusted EPS rose ~30.2% YoY to $1.12. The company’s earnings were ~2.8% more than analysts’ expectations for the fourth quarter of 2018.

However, excluding the net impact of tax reform and the adoption of the new revenue recognition accounting standard, Verizon’s adjusted EPS grew ~4.7% YoY to $0.90 in the fourth quarter of 2018.

In comparison, AT&T’s (T) adjusted EPS is expected to increase ~1.2% YoY to $0.86 in the quarter ending on March 31. T-Mobile’s (TMUS) adjusted EPS is expected to grow ~19.2% YoY to $0.93. Sprint (S) is expected to post an adjusted EPS of -$0.01 in the same quarter.
