In our earlier series, we saw how manufacturing activity in the developed economies (EFA) and emerging economies (EEM) trended in August 2017. In this series, we’ll take a look at the service activity of major developed economies (EEM) (VWO) in August 2017.

Key service PMIs (purchasing managers’ index) and other indicators that we’ll discuss include the following:

  • US (QQQ) (SPY) services PMI
  • UK (EWU) services PMI
  • Germany (EWG) services PMI
  • France (EWQ) services PMI
  • Eurozone (EZU) services PMI
  • Spain (EWP) services PMI
  • Japan services PMI
  • US Consumer Price Index
  • US retail sales
  • Eurozone Sentix investor confidence

These indicators help investors to identify the short-term trend in the market as well as in the economy.

Series overview

In this series, we’ll take a look at the final service PMIs for the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Europe, and Japan for August 2017. Service PMI is an important indicator for an economy, as it shows the trend of service activity, exports, new orders, and employment. We’ll also analyze the US consumer price index and US retail sales in August 2017. Next, we’ll have a look at the performance of the Eurozone Sentix Investor Confidence Index in September 2017.

In the next part of this series, we’ll analyze US services PMI for August 2017.
