Snap’s positive user growth has been fueled by the expansion of its new app for Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Android operating system. The company finished the rollout of its re-engineered Android app last month and hopes to expand the app outside the US and target young users who generally have low-cost smartphones with slower connections.
Earlier this month, Snap launched a new gaming platform within its Snapchat app, featuring original and third-party games such as Zynga’s (ZNGA) Tiny Royale, which is also expected to boost engagement and user growth. Plus, new original shows, ad network, and more augmented reality features are further expected to drive user growth.
Also, Snap is not involved in issues related to misinformation and the spread of abusive content. This gives it an advantage over rivals Facebook (FB), Google, and Twitter (TWTR), which are struggling with fake news issues and data-privacy policies.
