Series overview

In this series, we’ve seen that the manufacturing activity of major developed nations was weak in March 2018. If the service PMIs of major developed nations see weaker readings, it would mean that overall economic activity was hampered in March 2018.

The weaker economic activity in March was due to the rising concerns about the global trade war. President Donald Trump’s various announcements about the imposition of import tariffs on steel, aluminum, and Chinese goods raised concerns about the global trade war. Trump’s protectionist approach shocked global markets. Major markets around the world saw huge falls in March.

The iShares MSCI ACWI ETF (ACWI) and the Vanguard Total World Stock ETF (VT), which track the performance of the global markets, fell 1.5% and 1.2%, respectively, in March 2018.
