Natural gas price forecasts

The EIA (US Energy Information Administration) forecasts that Henry Hub prices will average $3.55 per MMBtu in 2017 and $3.73 per MMBtu in 2018. According to the EIA, prices averaged $2.51 per MMBtu in 2016.

For context, according to CHK’s December 2016 presentations, its break-even prices in the Marcellus and Utica Shales are $2.00 per MMBtu and $2.15 per MMBtu, respectively.

Remember, higher natural gas prices (UNG) tend to benefit natural gas-weighted companies like Rice Energy (RICE), Antero Resources (AR), and WPX Energy (WPX).

Continue to the next part for a closer look at CHK’s other key objectives going forward.
