What Drove Take-Two’s Sales in 2019?

In the fourth quarter, net bookings growth for NBA 2K19 was higher than company estimates due to recurring consumer spending, which rose 79%. In fiscal 2019, recurring spending rose 45%. NBA 2K19 has now sold over 9 million units. TTWO also estimates that net bookings from NBA 2K19 are the highest ever for a 2K sports title.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 has now sold over 24 million units globally. It’s tied with Grand Theft Auto V as the highest-rated game on PlayStation 4 (SNE) and Xbox One (MSFT). Red Dead Online is also expected to be successful, as its net bookings grew sequentially in the fourth quarter.

Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online continue to be key revenue drivers almost six years after their launch. Net bookings of Grand Theft Auto Online rose sequentially in the last quarter. It’s now sold a mind-boggling 110 million units to date.

In fiscal 2018, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2 and Online had 90 million unique player accounts. During the company’s earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick stated, “Live to date, more than 200 million unique players accounts have registered in Rockstar Games social club platform, as having played these games. Rockstar Games will continue to support both immersive online worlds with innovative content to keep players engaged and drive player growth over time.”
